Nan, 60, has worked at KFC for 40 years and served six MILLION chicken pieces – and her husband, daughter and brother work there too

LOYAL grandmother Rita Frost has spent nearly four decades working at KFC and served a staggering six million pieces of chicken.

Today colleagues, including eight of her family members who also work for the food chain, threw a surprise birthday party on her 60th birthday.

The restaurant in Sheerness, Kent, where Rita works as assistant manager, was decorated with balloons, banners and poppers and the happy nan was joined by her family and friends.

One of the party-goers was a friend she had trained when he started at the restaurant.

The beloved grandmother said she couldn’t have imagined a better birthday venue than the restaurant where she spent most of her life.

Rita, who eats at KFC five times a week, joined the company 37 years ago in 1980 when she was only 23 years old and she became a general manager three years later.

During the last four decades she has served 6,234,500 pieces of chicken.

But she is not the only one in her family who has strong ties to the company.

Eight members of her family have worked at KFC including her husband, brother, sister-in-law, and nephew.

Rita’s brother Tony Roberts met his wife Karen while working for the chain and another family member held her wedding reception in a KFC.

Her daughter, Charlene Card, 36, also works for the company, as a general manager of their Gillingham branch in Kent.

Rita, whose favourite dish on the menu is the rice box, said: “I have enjoyed every second of my time at KFC.

“It’s pretty obvious by how many people in my family have worked here that it’s a great place to work.

“Throwing me a birthday party at my restaurant was a perfect way to celebrate.”
