Travellers dump huge piles of industrial waste after illegally setting up camp at Holloway Prison
Convoy of trucks deposited the rubbish at the north London site, that once housed Rose West, on Thursday morning
TRAVELLERS have dumped a mountain of waste outside Holloway Prison after setting up camp there.
They began arriving at the north London site on Wednesday evening before a convoy of trucks deposited the piles of rubbish on Thursday morning.
Cops were called to a car park adjacent to the former women’s prison, but are yet to force the group, who have at least 20 vehicles, to move on.
One local said: "There's an unbelievable amount of rubbish and it doesn't look like they are planning to leave anytime soon.
"They also have a dog that barks all day and night, which is annoying people even more than the rubbish."
Another added: "They have broken the chains for the car park and been making a nuisance of themselves.
"They are fly-tipping and have dogs running around chasing the people walking through."
A prison service spokesperson said: "A group of individuals are illegally camping on prison land at HMP Holloway.
"The police have attended and we are taking all the necessary legal steps to regain possession of the site.”
HM Prison Holloway was the largest women's prison in western Europe until its closure in 2016.
It housed monsters including Myra Hindley and Rose West.
Dozens of trucks deposited hundreds of tonnes of potentially dangerous, stinking rubbish on ground which backs on to £700,000 terraced houses.
It’s thought the vehicles responsible had their reg plates covered meaning they will be hard to trace.
Environment bosses say "tough action" has been taken to ensure the mess is cleared but locals in Islington, London are demanding why the fly-tippers have not in been caught in the act using the site's only entrance.
The desperate locals swung into action on Sunday afternoon when a group of people towing caravans were seen pulling off the main road and into their estate.
Around 50 caravans and 4x4s parked up at the popular Barr Beacon site in Great Barr, near Birmingham, late on Friday night.
