Muhammad replaces William in the top 10 most popular boys’ names in the UK
Oliver and Olivia take top spots as parents name kids Neymar, Messi, and Ronaldo - but Muhammed is overall no 1 for boys if different spellings are taken into account
MUHAMMAD with an 'a' has booted William out of the top 10 boys' names in the UK.
The news comes weeks after it was revealed the Islamic name is now the most popular overall if the different spellings are combined.
Meanwhile Olivia ended Amelia's five-year reign as the top choice for girls, while Poppy made way as Lily scraped into the top ten.
Oliver claimed top spot for the fourth year in a row as parents picked it out for 6,623 boys, but Mohammed - meaning one who is praiseworthy - knocks it into second place with a whopping 7,992 when all of the official spellings are taken into account.
Harry, George, Jack, Jacob, Noah, Charlie, Thomas and Oscar rounded off the rest of the top ten for boys, while Emily, Isla, Ava, Isabella, Jessica, Ella and Mia made up the rest of the girls.
