Stalker obsessed with Hollywood star Eddie Redmayne bombarded him with love letters and stalked him in the park and at premieres
The actor said five-year campaign of harassment left him feeling 'deeply unsettled' as mum would give him notes saying 'I know you'
A MUM obsessed with Eddie Redmayne has admitted bombarding him with love letters and stalking the Hollywood heartthrob at premieres.
German translator Gaby Stieger, 49, loitered outside the Oscar-winning actor's house in Southwark, south London, during a five-year campaign of harassment.
She would also give the star notes saying "I know things about you" as she stalked his local park and her face would "contort with rage" when talking about Redmayne's wife Hannah Bagshawe.
Redmayne, 35, even spotted her in the crowd in Leicester Square at the premiere of the latest Harry Potter film.
A letter written by the star was read at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court today describing the effect Stieger's stalking had on him.
It said: "When you do a play as an actor you meet people waiting outside who have come a long way to see it.
"They are often friendly and give gifts. You try to be open and friendly with them.
"I deeply regret having met Gaby Steiger at the Donmar Warehouse. She harassed myself and my family intermittently over five years, leaving us deeply unsettled."
The mum-of-two, who pleaded guilty to stalking today, first met the actor in 2012 when he was starring in a play at Donmar Warehouse in Covent Garden.
She then attended the film set in Oxford a year later where Redmayne was shooting his Oscar winning role as physicist Stephen Hawking in the film 'The Theory of Everything.'
Stieger asked for a photograph with him and offered him cake in return for signing a birthday card for her daughter.
But the A-lister became concerned when Stieger showed up at a carol service at his old school, Eton, forcing the star to sneak out with his wife Hannah.
Stieger ramped up her stalking campaign in 2014 when she regularly attended Redmayne's local park in Southwark.
She even handed the Danish Girl star a letter expressing her love for him and told him she had left her children behind in her native Germany.
Stieger would appear outside his house "out of nowhere" - watching Redmayne and his family "without us knowing", the court was told.
He also said her face would "contort with rage" when she spoke about his wife Hannah, adding: "The safety of my family is everything to me and with her behaviour we can't feel safe".
Stieger even followed him to his local Tube station and on one occasion asked him for a hug.
It culminated in August this year after Stieger approached Redmayne again outside his house, while he was with his baby daughter, and tried to touch his arm.
The actor was so worried about the stalking that he contacted a solicitor and repeatedly told Stieger to leave him and his family alone.
Stieger, of Colindale, north London, was released on conditional bail, banning her from contacting Redmayne or going to Southwark, and is due to be sentenced on tomorrow afternoon.
