Shocking photos show severe bruises on the tiny baby’s face.

Doctors did not speculate about how the boy may have suffered the "serious" injuries, which include multiple bone fractures and severe internal organ damage.

But the rescuers believe the baby’s mum may have inflicted the injuries before leaving the baby to die in the wild.

Authorities are investigating but have yet to track down the child’s mother.

The woman could face serious charges for abandoning her baby, including a lengthy jail term.

Doctor Li did not say whether the newborn had any other physical or mental defects.
