Gangs linked to execution of Corey Junior Davis, 14, made chilling YouTube gun brags viewed by thousands – and videos remain on the site
Corey was shot from behind in what locals say was a revenge attack in an ongoing gang feud in East London
FEUDING gangs linked to the execution of a 14-year-old boy have made chilling brags about gun violence in YouTube videos watched by thousands online.
Corey Junior Davis was shot from behind as he sat with friends near a playground in Forest Gate, East London, at around 3pm on Monday.
He died in hospital the next day.
A second shooting victim - aged 17 - remains in hospital in a stable condition with potentially life-changing injuries.
Corey has been linked to the Woodrange E7 gang and it is believed the attack was the latest outbreak in violence in a dispute with the Beckton E6 crew.
Locals say the shooting was a revenge attack for the hunting knife stabbing of an 18-year-old man during a mass brawl at the nearby Westfield shopping centre in Stratford on Friday.
Both groups appear to have posted videos on YouTube rapping about gangland violence and 'shooting to kill'.
But the videos remain live on the site, which says such language is often 'artistic expression' and it would need content linked to gang violence to be reported by police before it is removed.
One video by 'WoodGrange E7' - which has been viewed more than 100,000 times - boasts about 'holding n****** to ransom'.
Another video seemingly created by the same group shows a gunshot hole appearing in the screen while members rap 'I'm shooting to kill'.
Videos making reference to 'Beckton E6' also feature males singing about 'youths getting gunned' and making gun gestures at the camera.
There is no suggestion anyone featuring in the videos played any part in Corey's killing.
A YouTube spokesman said the website works closely with police to stop videos fuelling crime.
A statement said: "While YouTube is a platform for free and creative expression, we strictly prohibit videos that are abusive or promote violence.
"We work closely with organisations like the Met Police to understand where artistic expression escalates into real threats.
"We're committed to improving our work on this issue to make sure YouTube is not a place for those who seek to do harm."
Corey's granddad, Neville McLeod, said he cannot believe anyone would want to kill the teenager.
He told Sky News: "He might have got into trouble once. But not anything major, that someone could want to kill him or killed him.
"He never gave me any trouble. I've nothing bad to say about CJ. Not one word."
No-one has been arrested in connection with Corey's murder and police are looking to trace a suspected getaway vehicle used after the shootings.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellam, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are working tirelessly to work through the evidence and piece together the events which led to Corey's murder.
"I am specifically appealing for information about a large, light coloured 4 x 4 type vehicle that was seen leaving the scene immediately after the shooting.
"Did you see this vehicle in and around the area of Moore Walk shortly after 3pm on Monday, 4 September? If you did, please contact the incident room - any information could prove to be vital to progressing this investigation.
"I would also ask any members of the public who have footage or images of the incident or the events surrounding the incident to retain this footage and contact police."
