He made the revelations as he appeared on Good Morning Britain this morning - telling viewers he hoped the US President will "reach out" to Kim in a bid to end the North Korea crisis.

Describing his bromance with the North Korean leader, 56-year-old Rodman said: "I hang out with him all the time.

"We laugh, we sing karaoke, we do a lot of cool things together like skiing and riding horses.

"People don't need to hate me because I don't love him.

"I am just trying to straighten things out for everyone to get along."

Rodman became firm friends with Chicago Bulls fan Kim during a visit to North Korea in 2013.

The ex-basketball player says he hopes their friendship will help give people a "different view" of North Korea, but failed to explain how he planned to ease tension with America.

He said: "When you see him on TV, you never see him talk.

"Every time I see him, he’s always calm, he’s always smiling especially with his family. To me, in person, if you see him he’s just like anybody else

"He's a dictator to his people, he tries to be a madman.

"I’ve never seen anyone in my life with that much power.";

The mounting crisis in the Korean peninsula has left many fearing the outbreak of a global military conflict.

But despite being close to both world leaders, Rodman's rambling interview left viewers in doubt over how he could help put an end to the international nuclear stand-off.

The sports legend is also close to US President Donald Trump after the pair appeared on America's celebrity version of The Apprentice.

Rodman said: "To me if the President tries to reach out to Kim it's a great possibility that things can happen if they have a mutual conversation."

As the interview came to an end, presenter Piers Morgan, who is also pals with Trump, gave the 56-year-old sports star an interesting proposition.

He said: "Next time you go to North Korea, can I come with you and meet Kim Jong-un?

Rodman replied: "All right, next time I go to North Korea, I will take you Piers."

After ending the interview, journalist Piers said: "How amazing is that".
