Man beats incredible odds of 84 TRILLION-TO-ONE to crack seven double yolk eggs from one box

Tan Doan, from South London, recorded his amazement as he cracked seven double yolkers at odds of 1,000/1 each time

A LUCKY diner filmed the moment his breakfast became a statistical miracle after cracking seven double-yolk eggs in the same box.

The odds of finding a double-yolker are a 1,000/1 but Tan Doan, from Crystal Palace, South London, was amazed as he opened one after another.

In total, seven of his box of a dozen eggs had two yolks – the odds of which are around 84 TRILLION-TO-ONE.

Tan, 40, bought the box of organic eggs from his local Aldi before shouting his girlfriend Ola and setting the camera rolling as his Saturday morning breakfast took an extraordinary turn.

He said: “I cracked the first, and then the second, before I shouted ‘check this out’ and told Ola to come through.

“The next couple I cracked were normal and we thought that was it but then it was just one after the next.

“In the end we thought this was something quite incredible and I managed to get the camera running to film the last three.

“It wasn’t until I researched that I realised quite how unlikely it was. I’m definitely thinking about getting a lottery ticket this weekend.”

The British Egg Information Service say one in every thousands eggs on average is a double-yolker.

But experts stress that the rare eggs are often found in clusters – so once one is found it becomes more likely a second will follow.

Despite the incredible odds, Tan’s discovery is not the most remarkable run of double-yolkers.

In November last year, John Landy from Wigan, Gtr Manchester, found TEN double yolks in a box of a dozen eggs.

A British Egg Information Service spokesman explained: “Double yolkers tend to come from young hens whose hormone system has not yet fully developed.

“It is quite rare to find double yolked eggs. However, because all the hens in a flock are the same age, it is not unusual to find more than one double yolker in a box.”
