George Michael’s beloved dog Abby pines for her late owner at his shrine… and has even lost her appetite

GEORGE Michael’s dog appears to be pining for the star at his shrine.

Golden labrador Abby sat by the candles, portraits and tributes left by fans near the pop superstar’s home in Highgate, North London.

The pet, now being cared for by George’s family, is thought to have even lost her appetite since her master’s death nine months ago.

Friends and relatives of the Careless Whisper singer, who raised Abby from a puppy, say the 11-year-old pet has become “soulless”.

Abby has been repeatedly spotted at the shrine after the singer died aged 53 of heart and liver disease.

She was previously seen sniffing at floral tributes and cards after being let off her leash.

But this time fans paying their respects believed the dog was pining in a kind of vigil and tried to comfort him.

George got Abby as a puppy when he was with Kenny Goss in 2006.

He also owned her sister Meg and was shattered when she died in 2015. The animal lover used to refer to the dogs as “his girls” and regularly posted internet videos of himself with his two “best friends”.

Meg’s ashes are with the pop icon at his grave in Highgate Cemetery, near the shrine.

It is believed that when Abby dies she too will be laid to rest there. It is what the ex-Wham! star wanted. George was an avid campaigner for animal welfare charities.

During his 2012 Symphonica tour he created a “dog wall” collage, which he later auctioned off on eBay.

He said at the time: “The proceeds will go to a dog rescue charity.

"And there are three pics of my gorgeous Meg and Abby on there.”
