Game Of Thrones’ Tyrion Lannister hailed as Britain’s favourite character – but where did yours rank?

The dwarf, played by American actor Peter Dinklage, beat his monarch Daenerys Targaryen and northern leader Jon Snow.

Dwarf Tyrion has become a key figure in the smash hit Sky Atlantic series, which will reach the thrilling conclusion of Season 7 in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday.

And the role has made American actor Dinklage a global star.

Ironically Dinklage, whose plummy English accent as Tyrion, defies his U.S roots, was cautious when he was first interviewed for the part amid a fear he would play a stereotypical dwarf role.

Yesterday a spokesman for Spinzwin, which carried out the study among 2,4000 GoT fans said: ‘’Tyrion is a worthy winner.

‘’It took him a while to make his mark on the show, and viewers have seen many sides of his personality.

‘’As his popularity grew he managed to survive a battle and has continued to win the hearts of fans with his razor sharp wit, and cool, calm and collected approach to helping Daenerys achieve her goals.

‘’He has proven himself to be the smartest Lannister despite being ridiculed by his bitter, twisted sister.’’

Daenerys, aka actress Emilia Clarke, did manage to hold of competition from feisty Arya Stark to snatch second place while Maisie Williams’ character was third.

Evil Cersei Lannister – Tyrion’s sister – played by Lena Headey, made fourth place while the King of The North Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) came fifth.

Other characters to make the top ten included Sansa Stark, the deceased former boy king Joffrey Barratheon and all-seeing Varyus.

Loyal warrior Brienne of Tarth came ninth and the foul-mouthed Hound was tenth.
