THE SUN ON SUNDAY SAYS

It’s about time PM Theresa May knocked a few EU heads together to get Brexit rolling again

THE Brexit negotiations have hit stalemate.

It’s clear the Europeans are determined to make the issue all about our exit bill.

But as anyone in any divorce will testify, you can’t agree the settlement until you’ve worked out the terms.

Their crazy figures for our final payment have ranged between £32bn and £100bn.

There is no way we should cough up anything before vital issues such as our future relations on trade, borders and security co-operation are settled.

Brexit Secretary David Davis is right to dig his heels in.

Because if we did settle the bill first, what incentive would the EU negotiators have to come up with any concessions on trade or any of the other issues?

But Davis can’t do it alone.

What’s needed now is for Theresa May to wade in and bang a few heads together.

A strong speech from the PM warning that Brussels will not get a blank cheque from Britain should be top of her agenda.

It would signal not only that she is ready to do business, but that she means business as well.

Council had Grenfailed

We acknowledge that rehousing on such a vast scale is a very difficult problem and a great deal of effort has already been made.

But two months on around 200 homeless former residents are still holed up in hotels, waiting to be rehoused.

Can council chiefs really say they are doing enough when so many feel left behind?

This issue will not go away, and this weekend the disaster will be a focus at the nearby Notting Hill Carnival.

It’s time they came up with a solution. Fast.

Diana may have been an icon to millions around the world and one of the biggest stars any royal family has ever seen.

But she was also the mother to two little boys.

And they have to live with the aftermath for the rest of their lives.
