THIS is the four-year-old boy from Manchester who died after a metal gate fell on him while he was on holiday in Italy.

Little Angelo Quirino is understood to have been three days into visiting family near Rome when the tragedy happened on Saturday afternoon.

A picture of the adorable youngster was raising funds to support his parents.

Angelo was said to have been playing football with his brother when the 450lb sliding iron gate fell on him.

reports how relatives are said to have gone to help when they heard screams but found the youngster unconscious.

Angelo was due to start school in north Manchester next month. He is said to have suffered injuries to his head and collarbone.

Italian media report that Angelo was on holiday with his mum, brother and little sister at the time.

Medics are said to attempted to resuscitate the youngster to no avail for more than 45 minutes.

It is understood his dad took the first flight from Manchester to Italy when he learned the news.

An investigation is now under way into how the gate toppled onto the child.

Local police have cordoned off the villa – which had reportedly not been hired out before - as the investigation continues.

The family are believed to have moved to Manchester in 2015.

A friend of the family told the M.E.N: “I feel sick. It absolutely breaks my heart. I have a son the same age and Angelo would have been going to school in a couple of weeks.”
