Who are the Barcelona attack victims? Julian Cadman among 15 dead in Las Ramblas and Cambrils terror tragedy

FIFTEEN people were killed in two depraved terror attacks just hours apart in Barcelona and Cambrils in Catalonia.

While the world grapples with the devastating death toll, emergency services have been going through the heartbreaking job of identifying those whose lives were lost.

Julian Cadman, British-Australian boy, 7

Julian Cadman, a seven-year-old British boy, was among those killed in the attack on August 17.

He became separated from his mother Jom during the van rampage which left her with broken legs.

His father Andrew Cadman arrived in Barcelona on Saturday night after flying in from Sydney, Australia.

A post on Facebook from the Spanish missing persons' bureau confirmed the death of Julian, who also held Australian citizenship.

“Julian Cadman’s family has told us he is unfortunately one of the victims of the attack and has asked us to thank all the people who have spread the news", the announcement read.

“In these very unjust, hard and painful moments, we accompany Julian’s family and friends. Rest in peace. Once again we wish to reiterate our appreciation and involvement in your search.”

Later, a touching family statement read: "Julian was a much loved and adored member of our family.

"As he was enjoying the sights of Barcelona with his mother, Julian was sadly taken from us.

"He was so energetic, funny and cheeky, always bringing a smile to our faces."

They added: "We are so blessed to have had him in our lives and will remember his smiles and hold his memory dear to our hearts.

"We would like to thank all those who helped us in searching for Julian. Your kindness was incredible during a difficult time.

"We also acknowledge we are not the only family to be affected by the events, our prayers and thoughts are with all people affected."

Elke Vanbockrijck, Belgium, 44

Belgian mum Elke Vanbockrijck has been confirmed as one of the Barcelona victims.

She is thought to have been in the city with her husband and two sons aged 11 and 14 on a family holiday.

Patrick Dewael, the mayor of Tongeren where the family are from, confirmed that Elke had died.

A keen football fan, club KFC Heur Tongeren, where her sons played, said in a statement: "She was often at the club, and was committed to our club.

"We will always remember her as a happy woman, a caring mother and loving wife. Elke will be missed.”

Bruno Gulotta, Italy, 35

Italian Bruno Gulotta, 35, had been walking hand in hand with his five-year-old son when he was struck by the terror van on Las Ramblas.

His wife Martina was carrying their baby and pulled their son Alessandro from the path of the van at the last minute, according to Italian media.

An employee for tech firm Tom's Hardware, the company said in a statement: “We put ourselves in the shoes of little Alessandro, who is about to start elementary school knowing his and his family’s life will never be the same again. And we think of baby Aria … who will never know her dad".

Luca Russo, Italy, 25

Luca Russo, 25, was in Barcelona with his girlfriend Marta Scomazzon, who was one of the injured.

She told the Italian media: "We were walking together and then the van hit us. I fell and realised that Luca wasn’t there any more.

"I didn’t see him again. His body was swept away.”

Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni said: "Italy will remember Bruno Gulotta and Luca Russo and expresses its solidarity with their families. Freedom will triumph over barbarism and terrorism".

Fransisco Lopez Rodriguez, Spain, 57

Fransisco Lopez Rodriguez, 57, was killed at his wife's side as they walked on Las Ramblas.

His wife was seriously injured as well as her niece and her niece's two children, one of whom tragically died.

Another niece, Raquel Baron Lopez, said on Twitter: "We are a broken family".

Javier Martinez, Spain, 3

Little Javier, 3, was the grand-nephew of Fransisco Lopez Rodriguez.

He was killed after being struck by the terror van on Las Ramblas.

Ian Moore Wilson, Canada

Ian Moore Wilson was in Barcelona with his wife Valerie when he was struck on Las Ramblas.

Witnesses had tried to revive him on the pavement in the immediate aftermath of the attack, but he later died.

His daughter Fiona, a Vancouver police sergeant, said: "In the midst of this tragedy, my dad would want those around him to focus on the extraordinary acts of human kindness that our family has experienced over the past several days, and that is exactly what we intend to do.”

The husband and father, who was married for 53 years, was described as "compassionate, generous, adventurous, and always game for a lively debate, a good book, exploring new places, and a proper-sized pint".

Pepita Codina, Spain , 75

Xavier Vilamala, the mayor of the small town of Sant Hipòlit de Voltregà near Barcelona, announced the death of Pepita Codina.

Tributes were paid online to the 75-year-old.

Sara Sanchez Crosas, a hairdresser, wrote: “The angels await you.”

Jared Tucker, USA, 42

American Jared Tucker was on holiday in Barcelona with his wife Heide Nunes.

The day after the attack his family confirmed the 42-year-old construction worker had died.

From Walnut Creek, California, he and Heide had been on Las Ramblas during a first wedding anniversary tour of Europe.

They were drinking at a pavement cafe on the famous boulevard when their table was hit by the van.

"Next thing I know there’s screaming, yelling", Heide told ABC News.

"I got pushed inside the souvenir kiosk and stayed there hiding while everybody kept running by, screaming.”

Carmen Lopardo, Italy, 80

Carmen Lopardo was the the oldest victim of the terror attack.

The 80-year-old was among three Italians killed in the atrocity on Las Ramblas in Barcelona.

Local media reports said he had emigrated to Argentina in 1950 and was in Barcelona on holiday.

Silvina Alejandra Pereyra, Argentinian-Spanish, 40

Silvina Alejandra Pereyra had lived in Barcelona for 10 years after moving from Argentina.

The Argentine foreign ministry confirmed she was a victim.

Her body was identified by a cousin who informed other family members in Bolivia.

Ana María Suárez, Spain, 61

Ana María Suárez was the only victim of the Cambrils attack.

The mum, 61, was with her husband and sister when they were ploughed into by another terror van.

From Zaragoza in North East Spain, the Spanish Royal Family's social media account confirmed her death and gave condolences to her family.

Who else is among the dead and injured?

Spanish authorities have listed people from 34 countries who were caught up in the terror.

Two Portuguese nationals are also believed to be among the fatalities.

More than 100 people were also injured, including a six-year-old girl suffering a cerebral haemorrhage.

France has confirmed that 26 of its citizens were injured in the attack, with 11 in a serious condition.

Four Australians were hurt, including two women in a serious but stable condition.

Three Dutch were injured, with three Greek nationals, a mother and her two children, also hurt.

China has confirmed a Hong Kong citizen suffered minor injuries.

Three Italian nationals were also injured.

The US has also released information that one American with minor injuries was involved.

Brit Chris Pawley, who survived the Manchester bombing barely three months ago, was caught up in the horror.

Chris, 30, was enjoying a trip to the Spanish city with partner Corey Lorde for a festival when the terrorist struck, saying: "We were in the area after the incident. We have just come back to the hotel, as we were caught up in the arena attack – can’t believe it."

A further seven people were injured when suspects ploughed into innocent people in the resort town of Cambrils, just 70 miles south of Barcelona.
