Dad-to-be has his life saved by his IPHONE when power saw kicked into his leg but was stopped from slicing artery by device
A DAD-to-be who dropped a powerful saw on his leg says his life was saved by his iPhone after it bore the brunt of the blade.
Daniel Lockley was cutting wood in his back garden when the machine kicked back forcing him to drop it onto his left leg.
But the saw’s sharp edge hit the 20-year-old’s phone first – which had been in his left pocket – going on to leave a four inch gash.
Daniel, from Leeds, said if it wasn’t for the phone taking the first hit from the saw he would “probably be dead”.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online unemployed Daniel said: “The hospital said I was extremely lucky. I had to have 12 stitches.
“It cut right through my leg. But it hit the phone first – I only had a gel type cover on it.
“There was a lot of blood. Doctors at Leeds General Infirmary said I was one lucky man. It was half an inch from hitting the artery in my leg."
Daniel was making a trailer to carry fishing equipment using a Makita battery powered saw when the accident took place last Sunday.
