Steph Davis makes explosive courtroom claims Jeremy McConnell threatened to throw ACID in her face – as he is found guilty of battering her in cocaine-fuelled rampage
The reality star couple have been involved in a tumultuous relationship
STEPH Davis has made explosive claims that Jeremy McConnell threatened to throw acid in her face – as he was found guilty of battering her in a cocaine-fuelled rampage.
The ex-Hollyoaks actress grinned as she left court after her on/off boyfriend Jeremy McConnell was convicted of "throwing her around like a rag doll" in a row about a sex toy.
McConnell, who was bailed, will now be sentenced on Friday but the judge warned him he could face jail – with the maximum sentence for assault by beating standing at six months.
Davis broke down in tears as she told the court how McConnell threw her around like a “rag doll” and called her a “s**g” in a violent argument over a sex toy.
While giving evidence, Steph claimed McConnell had threatened her with acid during the terrifying attack – but was advised by the judge to stay on track.
Steph told the court: "He threatened me with acid."
In an emotional testimony, 24-year-old Davis wept as she told the court McConnell had believed she had been using a sex toy with other girls in a lesbian affair.
Alternating between crying and shouting as she gave her testimony, Davis claimed the father of her child had attacked her after a night out, including putting her in a headlock, then left the property before trying to return, kicking on the front door.
The prosecution further alleged McConnell, who had claimed self-defence, had punched Davis while she held a baby in her arms.
She told the court: "I heard him (McConnell) go over the gate and I thought 'this is like a horror film'.
"He was booting my glass doors with his foot, and I thought the glass was going to shatter. I thought, 'this is it, he's going to kill me'."
After an emotional day in court, Judge Wendy Lloyd took barely 15 minutes to find McConnell guilty, telling the court: “This is a sad story, like many of this sort there is much emotion on both sides.”
She added: "Mr McConnell may prefer to think he acted in self defence. I believe his judgement was totally clouded by drugs and alcohol."
One bail condition is that McConnell does not contact Stephanie Davis.
Steph Davis had told the court that McConnell, 27, was convinced she was having an affair with her pregnant friend, as well as their fireman neighbour, during the fight in March.
The enraged reality TV star allegedly even searched through the home for the man he believed she was cheating with.
She also claimed he had been in a "psychotic" state.
Tensions boiled over in court when McConnell muttered "lies" during his former lover's testimony - with Stephanie shouting at him "Jeremy, can you stop talking over me when I'm trying to talk?"
At one point, the court was forced to take a break as Stephanie screamed expletives at McConnell, saying he had "completely destroyed" her life as he laughed during her testimony.
Taking to the stand on Monday afternoon, McConnell admitted he had shared a bag of coke with friends, saying he had also drunk three double vodkas at the pub.
But he maintained he would have "100 per cent" known what was going on around him - and was instead trying to defend himself from Davis.
He told the court: "She must have hit me 10 to 15 times.
"I had to defend myself. I put my arm up, I've never hit Stephanie."
He said he apologised to Davis for taking drugs, saying: "I was apologetic and trying to calm her down but she continued to hit and kick me."
He also insisted Davis was living in a "fairytale".
The defence added that Davis had "exaggerated" her evidence.
McConnell had been accused of assaulting former Hollyoaks actress Davis during an incident at a property in Rainhill, Merseyside, on March 10.
At a previous court appearance on May 10, McConnell pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage but denied assault by beating.
He was today granted bail, with his sentence to be handed down on Friday.

Davis earlier told the court said she had given McConnell a "second chance" but claimed she had been forced to lie about marks on her body from physical fights with her lover.
She said she had thought Jeremy was the love of her life.
Davis denied she had fabricated her story to prevent McConnell from taking part in Ex on the Beach, explaining to the judge: "It's a sex show, basically."
The judge replied: "I don't want to know".
Gillian Lavin, the aunt of Stephanie Davis, told the court she had visited her niece the morning after the attack, saying the bed and floor of a room where Jeremy had been in was covered in vomit.

A MOTHER'S TESTIMONY: Pauline, mum of Stephanie Davis, reveals to the court she was scared of Jeremy McConnell
Stephanie Davis' mother said she had been brought to tears seeing her daughter's injuries after the alleged assault in March.
Pauline told the court McConnell was "obviously on drugs" during the argument, saying he had bloodshot eyes and was sweating profusely.
She said she had rushed to help her daughter, saying McConnell started to calm down and grovel.
She said: "He said how he'd messed up and he was just sort of like aggressive.
"He was grabbing Stephanie and saying sorry, sorry it won't happen again."
She further alleged that she found a packet of drugs at the home.
When questioned over why she had not called police, she told the Liverpool Magistrates Court: "I was scared of Jeremy. He was crazy."
Stephanie grew up in Liverpool with two younger brothers, and her first acting role was as Gretel in the Liverpool Empire Theatre's production of The Sound of Music when she was eight-years-old.
She then appeared in a number of minor television roles, including Holby City, Doctors and Parents of the Band.
Jeremy McConnell was born in Dublin in 1990, winning the title of Mr Dublin in 2012.
He first starred in MTV's Beauty School Cop Outs before going onto star in Celebrity Big Brother alongside Stephanie Davis.
