Young boy, 10, dies after ‘falling ill’ at ice rink in Scottish leisure centre

A 10-YEAR-OLD boy has died after “falling ill” and suddenly collapsing at an ice rink.
Paramedics rushed to Auchenharvie Leisure Centre in Stevenston, Ayrshire after the alarm was raised around 6.30pm yesterday.
Desperate staff members frantically tried to revive the 10-year-old on the rink before emergency crews arrived.
He was rushed to hospital in nearby Kilmarnock but could not be saved.

Cops say the death is now being treated as unexplained.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 6.30pm on Friday, a 10 year old boy took unwell within Auchenharvie Leisure Centre in Stevenston.
"Emergency services attended and the boy was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where he died a short time later.
"A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death, which officers are treating as unexplained at this time.
"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
A spokesperson for KA Leisure said: "A young boy collapsed suddenly without warning at the ice rink at Auchenharvie Leisure Centre early Friday evening.
"KA Leisure members of staff performed CPR until Paramedics arrived.
"The young boy was taken from the scene by ambulance however KA Leisure understand he passed away.
"Our thoughts are with the family of the young boy at this difficult time."
