British ‘Benidorm Five’ members speak out to deny any role in newlywed Kirsty Maxwell’s balcony death plunge after court quiz
FOUR of the men being probed by Spanish police over a newlywed's deadly balcony fall have broken their silence to deny any involvement in her death.
Kirsty Maxwell, 27, plunged to her death from the 10th floor of an apartment while on holiday in Benidorm three months ago.
Kirsty, 27, from Livingston, West Lothian, had married her husband Adam in Cyprus just seven months before she died.
She had been in the resort of Benidorm with 35 pals on a hen do for a friend.
Kirsty is thought to have entered the men's apartment on the floor above hers by mistake after waking up and heading to what she thought was her friends' pad after a night drinking.
Distraught Adam Maxwell, who travelled to Benidorm recently with her family, claimed in a newspaper interview in May "something dark" had happened in the apartment.
The four men who attended the hearing said: "This was a tragic accident and we categorically deny any involvement in this unfortunate incident," reported.
"The opinion of the judge is that this was an accident.

"It goes without saying that our deepest sympathy goes out to Kirsty's family and our thoughts are with them all at this terrible time."
The criminal court overseeing her death has been told that Kirsty was three times over the drink-drive limit in England, but did not have any illegal substances in her system.
Her family and friends have never hidden the fact she had been drinking on the night she died – but have always angrily denied any drug-taking.
Family lawyer Luis Miguel Zumaquero said: "We always knew there was going to be a high blood alcohol level because Kirsty’s friends said they had been drinking.
"But that doesn’t justify her throwing herself out of an apartment with five men inside."
