US military spends FIVE TIMES more on Viagra than it does on transgender services, department of defense stats reveal
Trump banned transgender people from serving in 'any capacity' because of 'tremendous medical costs'
THE US military spends five times more money on Viagra than it does on the wellbeing of transgender troops.
Spending stats show £31.9million was set aside to fund the sex boost pills in 2015 — but transgender services are estimated to cost £6.4m.
Trump riled rights campaigners with the surprise announcement that gender change personnel would no longer be allowed to serve in "any capacity".
The President cited budget strains in his Twitter announcement on Wednesday.
"Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail", he said.
The breakdown of 2015 military spending released by the US Department of Defense also shows how £22.8m was spent on Cialis — a similar todger tablet.
That is over three-and-a-half times more than the estimated cost for transgender medical services, based on 2016 research by the Rand Corporation reported on Wednesday by the .
"The implication is that even in the most extreme scenario that we were able to identify … we expect only a 0.13-percent ($8.4 million out of $6.2 billion) increase in health care spending" by providing for transgender troops, researchers said.
