The mobile phone video shows a man in a red shirt sitting on top of the victim and hitting him at least four times with a small club.

The woman filming the sickening scene runs over and calls the attacker "disgusting".

More bystanders rush over and the truck driver is heard to say: "I tried to walk away."

She asks the cyclist, who is now bleeding heavily from a head wound, if he's OK.

He replies he is, then asks "where am I bleeding?" as blood flows down his face.

The attacker, who also appeared to be injured, said: "He hit my truck."

Although witnesses tried to stop him, the truck driver left the scene and was later arrested.

Paramedics treated the cyclist at the scene and then took him to hospital.

A witness said the incident was sparked when both men attempted to make a left turn.

Police said the two men didn't know each other.

According to , Fox was charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

He is scheduled to appear in court in August.
