'HE WANTS TO PAY HIS RESPECTS'

OJ Simpson ‘will visit the grave of ex-wife Nicole Simpson Brown’ who he was accused of murdering when he is released from prison later this year

OJ SIMPSON plans to do visit the grave of his ex-wife Nicole who he was accused of murdering after his release from prison, pals said yesterday.

The disgraced former sports star will make a macabre trip to see the woman who he was convicted in a civil court of killing in 1994.

Relatives of Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman – who Simpson was also accused of murdering – said the decision to free the former American football ace was “shocking”.

Nicole Brown's sister Tanya laughed at Simpson’s claim he lived a “conflict free life”, saying he “beat [her] sister” repeatedly.

Simpson, 70, was told by a Nevada parole board on Wednesday he will be freed after serving nine years of a 33-year sentence because of good behaviour at the Lovelock Correctional Centre.

He had been convicted for a botched robbery in 2007 in Las Vegas during which he led a group of men into a hotel to steal his own sports memorabilia from some dealers.

His earliest release date will be October 1 and his friend Tom Scotto said he will move to Florida.

He also said he plans to see his four children and pay his respects to his daughter Aaren Simpson, who died when she was two.

Scotto said: “We're going to go visit his sister in California, we're going to do a road trip.

“He wants to visit all the people that died while he was in prison and pay his respects.

“He wants to visit his daughter's grave. He wants to visit Nicole's grave and we're just going to spend time with family out there.”

Asked by ABC News host David Muir if he was serious about Nicole’s grave, Mr Scotto nodded and said: “Yes.”

Simpson was controversially acquitted of murdering Nicole, 35, and Mr Goldman, 25, in 1995 in the case dubbed the “Trial of the Century”.

The robbery case happened a decade later.

During the parole hearing on Wednesday Simpson was defiant and occasionally aggressive towards the parole board as he insisted he never pointed a gun at anybody during the robbery.

He painted himself as a model inmate, a Baptist faith leader and somebody who never got into fights.

But Tanya Brown was incredulous at Simpson’s claim to be “conflict-free”.

She said: “I’m like, ‘Really?’ You beat my sister, regardless of ... murdering her and Ron (Goldman).

“The fact is that my sister has diary entries dating back to, what, 1978 about abuse that was inflicted.”

Mr Goldman’s father Fred said “we're going to jump on him” and get the £21million they are owed from the civil case against Simpson.

Fred Goldman and his daughter Kim – Ron’s sister – said the parole board’s decision was “very disappointing”.

Fred Goldman said: “I believe without a doubt he's the same person. I think he showed it clearly during the parole hearing. His snickering about things.

“The arrogant looks when they're reading things. The way he snapped at one of the commissioners on the parole board. I think he is exactly who he always is.”

He added: “He beat up his first wife, he beat up Nicole numerous times, he had numerous other altercations with people over the years.

“Hardly conflict-free, nor do I suspect it'll ever be conflict-free. He's just not capable of being that person’.
