Twitter user @LeahR77 praised Trump for his offer to help ten-month-old Charlie Gard.

A European court has ruled that little Charlie – suffering with mitochondrial depletion syndrome – should have his life support machine switched off.

Leah wrote: "For all you crybabies at CNN whining about Trump beating up your logo, take a look what a real Potus and man does."

The tweet, which refers to a controversial tweet posted by Trump which attacked the US broadcaster, included a link to an article about baby Charlie.

Lohan replied to the tweet and said: "THIS IS our president.

"Stop bullying him and start trusting him.

"Thank you personally for supporting #THEUSA."

Lohan later replied to another tweet and said the Trump family "are kind people".

Her social media comments were praised by Trump fans.

Marky Hutt wrote: "So much respect for Lindsay Lohan.

"Even when America turned on her, she still loves and shows so much respect for the USA and our president."

Another added: "Everyone hates Trump but he isn't all that bad and I'm glad Lindsay Lohan actually spoke out."

However others were not impressed and used references to one of Lohan's films, Mean Girls.

Ben Palmer replied: "Stop trying to make Trump happen.

"It's not going to happen."
