The Las Vegas Police Department says an officer saw her ex Christopher Wood, 41, choking her and pulling her hair after her roommate raised the alarm.

Chillingly, in January the recovering drug addict wrote on Facebook: "I’ll be dead before (they) do anything."

The pair, who are believed to have started dating in May 2016, posted pictures together and exchanged loving messages on social media but the relationship soon took a dark turn, reports the .

In January she called him a sociopath, said she wished she had never met him and accused him of ruining her life.

She also predicted he would try to murder her.

She wrote on his Facebook page: "Although I have no doubt (you’re) still going to try to kill me but you will never find me."

Martinez also accused cops of taking his side during a previous violent encounter between the couple.

In one incident North Las Vegas officers arrested Martinez, not Wood, on a domestic violence charge which led to a conviction.

After overcoming her drug problem, Martinez worked with other addicts at Narcotics Anonymous.

Her friend Rachael Chesin said: "Stella had a heart for people who struggled.

"She helped many people get clean, and she truly loved God and loved people deeply."

The victim's sister-in-law Jessica Avras added: "Stella wanted to save him (Wood). She wanted to save the world."

Wood is facing charges of attempted burglary, attempted murder, battery  and domestic violence by strangulation.

In 2014 he pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted battery resulting in substantial bodily harm and spent a year in prison. He attacked his ex-wife with his truck at her home, according to police documents.
