Adele blasted as ‘selfish’ by fans for cancelling Wembley gigs after they shelled out hundreds of pounds for concert as hotels refuse to refund overnight stays

FURIOUS fans have blasted Adele after claiming the superstar's decision to cancel two Wembley Stadium shows has cost them hundreds of pounds in hotels and train fares.
The Someone Like You singer released an emotional statement on Friday night saying she could not perform the final two nights of her 123-date tour because of damaged vocal chords.
The 29-year-old singer, who had already performed two nights to crowds of almost 100,000 fans on Wednesday and Thursday night, told fans refunds would be available.
But heartbroken concert-goers blasted the decision, saying they are unable to reclaim cash shelled out on hotels and transport booked months in advance.
Some said they will have lost as much as £250 on hotel rooms as prices in the area were increased in anticipation of big crowds for the concert.
People without travel insurance or who hadn't paid extra for the option of free cancellation said despite the exceptional circumstances they had not been able to get refunds for their rooms.
Andrew Brown said: "Adele cancelling her show tomorrow night saying shel (sic) refund tickets... bet she won't refund the train down."
Scotty wrote: "Adele well done for letting fans down! Next time don't get greedy and have too many concerts planned if you can't handle it.
"Is she going to pay for all the people who bought train tickets and hotels? She's made millions out of her fans so she should!"
Chandrika Nayak added: "Dear Adele this year finally got lucky to grab tickets & after mnths (sic) of waiting a day before u cancel. Disappointed feels short of how I feel."
Viki Anderson Cooper wrote on Facebook: "Never understood her huge popularity & why people fall for the 'she's so grounded & just one of us' crap. She's an attention seeking diva with a foul mouth & zero class. Feel sorry for those who have booked travel, hotels etc."
Andrew G. Dick added: "Plus zero work ethic. Many artists perform well into their 60s/70s whilst wouldn't dream of letting their fans down."
However, other fans rallied in support of the London-born star and gathered outside Wembley to sing tunes they hoped to hear her blast out inside the stadium.
'Even if you can't sing, we'll sing for you'
DESPITE anger among some fans over the cancelled Wembley gigs - other diehard supporters gathered outside Wembley last night to perform a concert of their own.
Hundreds of people joined the celebratory sing-a-long of tunes they hoped to hear the star sing inside the stadium.
Romina Soledad Bada wrote on Twitter: "Adele even if you can not sing, it's us, your fans outside the stadium singing for you #WeLoveYouAdele and we thank you for everything!"
Julie Parker filmed the gathering, adding: The Daydreamers all gathered outside of Wembley tonight to honor Adele #WeLoveYouAdele"
Caitlyn Vanbeck also tweeted footage, saying: ";Just to let you know Adele - we still love you X"
The 29-year-old singer said she was "heartbroken" by the decision and had even considered miming for the first time in her career so the shows could go ahead.
The Grammy award winner said she saw a throat doctor on Friday night who advised her not to perform over the weekend.
In a post shared on social media Adele said: "The last two nights at Wembley have been the biggest and best shows of my life.
"To come home to such a response after so long away doing something I never thought I could pull off but did has blown me away.
"However, I've struggled vocally on both nights. I had to push a lot harder than I normally do."
She added: "I'm already maxed out on steroids and aids for my voice.
"I've considered doing Saturday night's show but it's highly unlikely I'd even make it though the set and I simply can't crumble in front of you all and walk out on you in that way.
"I'm so desperate to do them that I've even considered miming, just to be in front of you and be with you.
"But I've never done it and I cannot in a million years do that to you. It wouldn't be the real me up there."

In 2011, Adele was forced to cancel 16 dates in the US and UK to undergo throat surgery.
At the time her management put out a statement, saying: "She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected.
"As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments."
