Police chief Nick Haverson who stalked his ex-lover after affair ended avoids jail
Charlotte Edwards ended their relationship when he refused to leave his wife for her
A MARRIED police chief who stalked his ex-lover after their affair ended has avoided a jail term.
Nick Harverson, 58 began hassling Charlotte Roberts in November when she told him she wanted just to be friends as he would not leave his wife.
He launched a campaign of revenge against 43-year-old Ms Roberts after their secret relationship, which revolved around seedy sexual encounters in parks and lay-boys, fell apart.
Haverson, who the court had already heard had a high heels and nylon stockings fetish, refused to take no for an answer, repeatedly hounding her to take him back and making threats.
After 35 years of service with Thames Valley Police, he sent Ms Roberts a "nasty" and "manipulative" letter threatening to testify against her at work.

The ex-head of corporate support at Thames Valley Police is banned from contacting commissioner’s assistant Ms Roberts for five years.
