Rob Lowe reveals terrifying moment ‘Bigfoot’ attacked him while filming ‘The Lowe Files’ in the Ozark mountains – and teases mythical beast may have been caught on camera
HOLLYWOOD star Rob Lowe claims he had a hairy encounter with the mythical Bigfoot while filming a new paranormal TV show.
Lowe, 53, said he “thought I was going to be killed” as the hulking “wood ape” loomed out of the darkness towards him in the Ozark Mountains in Missouri, US.
He has not so far revealed any images of the apeman – but teased that it may have been caught on camera as he was filming new telly series The Lowe Files.
The series sees the Code Black actor and his sons Matthew and John Owen hunting for evidence of paranormal mysteries across the US.
For the final episode they were hot on the trail of the legendary sasquatch claimed to stalk the forests in many states.
Lowe said he was “genuinely terrified” when the Bigfoot charged out of the trees, ignoring a team of armed guards as it headed straight for him.
He : “I’m fully aware that I sound like a crazy, Hollywood kook right now.
“But we had an incredible encounter with what locals call the wood ape, which is in the Ozark Mountains.
“We’re 100 miles from the nearest town. We spent 45 minutes on the most rugged, brutal mountain trails. It’s one in the morning.
“There are a lot of serious former military men with loaded weapons, then something starts approaching our camps that is defying their orders to stop and their warnings that they were armed.
“I was lying on the ground thinking I was going to be killed.”
He did not reveal how the encounter ended.
Asked if viewers will finally get to see a Bigfoot filmed by a professional crew he said: “I don’t want to oversell as a results-oriented show, although we have incredible results.”
Other episodes see the father and sons exploring an underwater “alien base” and America’s most haunted building, a former boys’ school.
Lowe said he approached the series “between true believer and sceptic, in a fun way”, but is now convinced ghosts are real following his experiences while filming.
He said: “Nothing is staged, nothing is trick-cut — no BS. I believe there are probably ghosts out there.”
And he added: “It’s a father-son, guy, bro adventure. It’s nostalgic, bittersweet, and a badass adventure.”
The Lowe Files will be broadcast on US channel A&E from August.
Last year eerie footage from a camera set up to film an eagle’s nest appeared to show a Bigfoot striding through the woods in Michigan, US.
In April this year bizarre video of a yeti-like creature peeking at tourists from behind a tree was filmed by teenagers at a national park in Holland.
And in 2015 a dog walker claimed she came face to face with a hairy apeman on the Sussex Downs.
