Officers turned up at his home in Halifax, West Yorks., in a bid to find him but had no idea how easy it would be.

They took a snap of their dozy suspect - adding on Facebook: "He won't be winning any awards for hide-and-seek champion soon."

Sivak admitted failing to surrender to bail during a brief appearance at Bradford Magistrates Court yesterday and was jailed for 14 days.

Gulfraz Khan, mitigating, said Sivak had tried to get to court for Tuesday's hearing but did not have enough cash for public transport.

He said: "Bradford is some distance from Halifax and there is no possible way he can work. He had tried every possible avenue to attain some money for travel."

Detective Inspector Gary Stephenson said: "This arrest was part of an ongoing proactive policing operation targeting those who are wanted by the police.

"The 30-year-old man was arrested by officers on Thursday after he failed to appear at court for burglary offences."

During the hearing Sivak denied stealing £4,500 in cash and other goods in an alleged raid on a fish and chip shop between June 3 and June 4.

He was remanded into custody until July 28 for trial at Bradford Crown Court.

It comes as a court heard how a clumsy gang leader known as “The Shredder” lost a testicle after accidentally shooting himself in the groin.

Ex-cage fighter Scott Benjamin, 30, was rushed to hospital for surgery after the blunder in the bedroom of a house in Walsall, West Mids.

The painful accident led cops to discover Benjamin, from Chelmsley Wood, had two sawn-off shotguns.

The notorious gangster, who led the Pendeford Crew, needed surgery which involved having one of his testicles removed.

Cops believe one of the guns was fired out of the window of the property as shotgun pellets were later found embedded into the road.

Mr Niall Skinner, defending, said: “The facts of this case are particularly unusual.”

Benjamin pleaded guilty to being in possession of two sawn-off shotguns at Birmingham Crown Court.

Judge Kristina Montgomery QC remanded Benjamin in custody and called for a pre-sentence report on “issues of dangerousness”.
