Destruction of ISIS in Mosul, Iraq is now inevitable, says Defence Secretary Michael Fallon
THE destruction of ISIS in Mosul is now inevitable, Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon says today.
RAF jets and drones have hammered 700 targets in support of ground forces in the Iraqi city.
Ahead of a Nato summit Sir Michael will say: “Three years on from when Daesh (ISIS) declared its caliphate in Mosul, this evil death cult faces its endgame.
“It also faces irreversible momentum towards defeat in Raqqa, Syria.
So far ISIS has lost 70 per cent of territory in Iraq and 51 per cent in Syria.
Four million Iraqis and Syrians have been freed from their tyranny.
The RAF has struck 69 targets at Raqqa in support of Syrian forces.
Meanwhile, 85 UK troops will join 500 training forces in Afghanistan.
Sir Michael said: “Keeping the country from becoming a haven for terrorists helps keep our streets safe.”
