Finsbury Park terror suspect accused of killing a granddad during hire van rampage appears in court as trial is set for June 20
Darren Osborne, 47, is charged with murdering Makram Ali, 51, and injuring several others
SUSPECTED terrorist Darren Osborne appeared at the Old Bailey today accused of killing a granddad and injuring nine other men by driving a van at a group of worshippers near Finsbury Park Mosque.
Grandfather Makram Ali, 51, died after being crushed under the wheels of the rented Citroen van during the rampage near Finsbury Park Mosque on 19 June.
Nine other men were injured before Osborne, 47, allegedly jumped out of the vehicle and shouted: "I'm going to kill all Muslims - I did my bit."
The group were outside a cafe not far from Muslim Welfare House on Seven Sisters Road just after midnight on Sunday having left night prayers.
They had gathered round Mr Ali to administer first aid when he suffered a suspected heart attack shortly before the attack just after midnight.
A group of Muslims held Osborne at the scene until police arrived and arrested him at 12.20am.
Mr Ali died at the scene at 1.04am from multiple injuries, while nine men were rushed to hospital - two in a critical condition.
Today Osborne appeared at the Old Bailey charged with the murder of Mr Ali and the attempted murder of others injured during the attack.
The Crown Prosecution Service have confirmed they are treating the charges as terrorism-related.
