FIVE people have died after being electrocuted at a water park pool in Turkey, according to reports.

Three children were electrocuted in a pool at a park once popular with British tourists this afternoon in the town of Akyazi, local media reports.

Private NTV television said the children were aged 12, 15 and 17.

They have been named as Gökay Yıldırım, Nurullah Ünlütürk and Mert Kalıç.

The Dogan news agency reported how the park's manager and his son dived into the pool to try and save them.

All five were rushed to Akyazı State Hospital, but could not be savedCredit: Milliyet.tv

It is understood the dead dad is 58-year-old dad Mehmet Kaya and his 30-year-old son is Kadir Kaya.

A sixth person was also hospitalised with electric shock injuries.

An investigation is underway.

Police officers were conducting an investigation into what caused the electrocutions.

It is reported that the park lacked a residual current breaker that shuts down power to prevent electrical shocks.
