Grenfell Tower survivors ‘terrified after being offered rooms in high-rise hotel’ – while others are housed ‘hundreds of miles away’
SURVIVORS of the Grenfell Tower blaze have told how they're being offered "rooms in high-rise hotels" while others say they are being housed "hundreds of miles away".
The traumatised residents are said to be terrified of entering another tall building similar to the one which turned into a hellish inferno early Wednesday morning.
Victims have also reported that the relief effort by the council has not been good enough amid claims of getting just £10-a-day relief fund.
Lisa Murray, a relative of one affected family, posted a picture of a high-rise London hotel on Facebook with the words: "This is the hotel the council was expecting my sister and family to stay in...RBKC [Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea] use your brain... my family just escaped a bloody tower block fire...
"What are the council thinking? Obviously it's not about the people."
She continued: "It's a joke. My sister broke down as soon as she see the hotel. How do they expect them to go into another tower block? So disrespectful. I honestly can't believe it."
Lisa added:"My family just escaped a burning tower block so to give housing in a tower block is not a very clever thing to do.
"There are b&bs and loads of empty places in the borough that are not in a high-rise block and covered in cladding. My sister had a panic attack when she seen the hotel.
"The council are trying to make themselves look good by quickly offering a place but haven't really thought of the people's state of mind.
"Some will never go into a tower block again."
Neighbour Nadia Isla said one survivor and his family had been offered a bed inside a tall hotel, reported.
She said: "They wanted to put him in a building which is a high-rise building. He doesn't want to put his children in a high-rise building - would you?
'They have been trying to re-house them in the building but they [the survivors] do not want to go in it.
"He freaked out, he said he does not want to put my children in that building.
"The wife said: 'I don't want to go higher than the first floor'."

It comes as Kensington and Chelsea MP Emma Dent Coad said survivors have been struggling to live off tiny assistance payments since the blaze.
She said: "I have been told that some people who have lost their homes have been sent out of borough and are being given only £10 per day subsistence," reported.
"If this is accurate it must be addressed without delay."
Meanwhile, the Government has promised a £5million assistance package will be earmarked for those affected by the blaze.
This will include emergency supplies, food and clothing for those who survived the fire thought to have claimed the lives of some 58 people.
Yesterday, First Secretary of State Damian Green also pledged to cover "further expenses" for the victims on top of this fund.
He told Radio 4: "Obviously one imagines there will be further expenses of various kinds, that of course we will meet."
She announced a £5 million fund for emergency supplies, food and clothing during a meeting with survivors of the disaster.
