He was part of a stag do to the popular tourist destination of Hvar in Croatia when he and a dozen friends sat down at the BB club restaurant.

The insensitive public display comes just weeks after Britain suffered three terrorist attacks in Westminster, Manchester, and London Bridge.

The attacks, all claimed by Isis, left 35 people dead during a period in which the security services said they were facing an “unprecedented” level of terror threat.

Disgusted holidaymakers, thought to be from Hertfordshire, looked on as the group of men sat down and started to drink beers while joking about their costumes.

Sophie Meszar, an NHS physiotherapist, was dining at the restaurant when the group came in. She told the : “The mood at the bar changed as soon as they arrived. Everyone was in shock and some felt nervous.

“I’m surprised the restaurant let them in. People were staring and everyone was talking about how disgusting it was to make light of such a serious topic, especially given the timing.

“The worst part is they were all British. The terror attacks in Britain have been relentless. Surely they knew they’d get a negative reaction. It’s really insensitive.”

The group were confronted two days ago and the stag, who refused to give his name, tried to explain that he wasn’t dressed as a terrorist but as a Somali Pirate.

He said: “I’m not a terrorist like the ones in London. I’m a Somali Pirate.

“I didn’t think people would react like this. We’re going on a boat later. That’s why I’m dressed like this. It’s just a bit of fun.”

Another member of the group, who are associated with the Sharks Touch Rugby club in Hertfordshire, said: “We didn’t mean to cause offence. It was meant to be funny.”

A stag party sparked an emergency response at Glasgow Airport two years ago when they planted a fake bomb in one of their pal's bags.

The Police were called to the scene but the men did still manage to catch a flight to their destination in Berlin for a boozy weekend.
