We applaud Ant McPartlin as he gets help for his addictions — and hope he inspires others to do the same

ANT McPartlin is in the fabric of our lives.

As one half of Britain’s best-loved TV duo, he’s brought fun to millions for more than 20 years.

Sadly, he’s going through a rough patch — and has bravely sought help.

Today Ant tells The Sun on Sunday how the hardest step is recognise you have a problem.

We applaud his honesty and bravery — and, like him, hope it may give others the courage to do the same.

Justice for Grenfell

Unforgivable... the Grenfell Tower fire was completely avoidable

THE Grenfell Tower inferno is the most unforgivable tragedy of our age.

The anger that such an appalling thing could happen in a modern capital city is entirely justified.

This disaster was completely avoidable.

Those closest to Grenfell — including brave little Thea West, five, whose story we tell today — will carry its horror for the rest of their days.

Others must now make sure that horror is never repeated.

A human catastrophe needs human responses.

The Prime Minister yesterday admitted the Government has so far failed in its response.

Lack of humanity produced the ignorance, mistakes, greed, and possible criminality that led to Grenfell.

Lack of humanity led to Grenfell fire... We must not continue to be inhuman now

We must not continue to be inhuman now.

It is not yet clear exactly what caused the blaze which left at least 58 people dead.

But it is clear where the blame lies.

Years of housing policy neglect, lax regulations, profit-obsessed contractors and a weak, penny-pinching council more interested in the rich who live in £5million homes than the poor in the high-rises.

Why were the eight years of warnings from residents that Grenfell was a fire risk ignored?

Why were a coroner’s recommendations that sprinklers be fitted in all towers after a fire that killed six people in south London in 2009 not immediately enforced?

Did the flammable cladding on Grenfell, used to save builders just £6,250, make the fire worse? If so, who decided to fit it?

Theresa May blundered by failing to face those affected by this tragedy.

We need swift answers on what is to be done at Britain’s 4,000 or so other tower blocks. How many are at high risk? Who will be in charge and who is to pay for it?

The public inquiry she promised must move quickly and report before the end of the year.

It must be completely independent and free of all government influence.

And it must be clear about who is to blame.

Grenfell’s unknown dead, and their grieving loved ones, must have justice.
