AFTER a soggy start, music fans enjoyed a weekend of sunshine on the Isle of Wight during the first major festival of the summer - but revellers at Parklife in Manchester were not so lucky.
Rod Stewart closed the show on the final day of the festival, amid heightened security by police following the recent terror attacks in London and Manchester.
The four-day event, which was battered by rain on Thursday, had already featured huge acts such as Run DMC and David Guetta.
Famous faces spotted in the crowds included Colin Firth, Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy.

Organiser John Giddings told Absolute Radio: "Colin Firth has come in because his son is playing.
"Abbey Clancy has turned up because her brother is playing. Crouchy is with her.
"He said could he have a hoody so he doesn't get recognised.
"I said but you're slightly tall so you might get recognised because of it. We'll try and get him on stage to dance."
Following the recent terror attacks, campers were forced to queue as security was stepped up with metal detectors at every gate as well as explosives detection dogs and armed police.
Hampshire Police have said they provided a "heightened presence" at the event at Seaclose Park, Newport.
Officers advised the public to be "alert but not alarmed".
Other acts which took to the stage during the four-day event included former Spice Girl Melanie C, The Kooks, Razorlight, Alison Moyet and Rag'N'Bone Man.
Meanwhile in Manchester, rain turned the city's Heaton Park into a mud bath, as party-goers waited to see the likes of The 1975, Chaka Khan, Frank Ocean and Stormzy.
But thousands of fans were disrupted on their journeys home after a man was hit by a tram at Manchester Victoria station just after 7:50pm last night.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 7.50pm on Sunday 11 June 2017 police were called to Victoria Station to reports of a collision involving a man and a tram.
“Emergency services attended but the man sadly died at the scene.
“An 31-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning."
And at Download Festival, rock music fans were spared rain as they gathered in Leicestershire's Donnington Park.
In the festival's 14th year, some 80,000 people flocked to the festival to watch bands including System of a Down and Biffy Clyro.
American rockers Aerosmith, who headlined the festival last night, vowed to put security concerns aside following the Manchester bombing.
The Grammy award-winning Boston band said they had considered pulling out of the festival - but insisted the show must go on.
