Tragic last moments of murdered MP Jo Cox revealed in new BBC documentary by the colleagues with her as she died
The constituency assistant and office manager who witnessed Mair attack the 41-year-old Jo in the street a year ago open up in emotional show
THE last moments of tragic MP Jo Cox have been revealed by the colleagues who were with her when she was murdered by Thomas Mair.
Constituency assistant Sandra Major and office manager Fazila Aswat saw Mair attack Jo, 41, in the street a year ago.
Reliving the horror, Sandra told a BBC documentary: “At first after he shot Jo, I had the irrational thought that it was some kind of publicity stunt for Brexit.
“It wasn’t real, it was surreal. The gun didn’t sound like a real gun, it sounded like a starting pistol.
“But then Jo fell back on the ground and I saw the blood. Then he started stabbing her. We were both screaming. There wasn’t much else we could do.

“Jo was saying to us, ‘Get back you two, don’t let him hurt you’.”
Fazila said Mair walked away and added: “I could see he was coming back around, and I said: ‘Please Jo, get up, think of the children and get up.’
"But she said: ‘I can’t Fazila, I’m hurt.’ I had her in my arms. There was a lot of blood. I made sure I stayed with her.”
