General Election 2017 is over as last seat Kensington is FINALLY declared, and Twitter breathes a sight of relief – but the memes keep rolling in
THE General Election may be over but Brits are continuing to post hilarious memes online poking fun at the campaign.
Tonight, the seat of Kensington was the final to declare meaning the vote has now ended in a hung parliament after Theresa May failed to command a majority.
And now every single MP has been returned people have been breathing a sigh of relief in amusing fashion.
One of them was Lynn, who posted a picture of a half eaten tub of ice cream on Twitter and wrote: "Off the scale and scary election results require serious ice cream. #GE17"
While Oscar posted a picture of a sleeping dog who he said had been left exhausted by the election.
But its not the first time internet jokers have been seeing the funny side of Britain’s political chaos by creating a selection of side-clenching ‘memes’.
Theresa May bore the brunt of them – including having her face superimposed on Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard when he famously slipped against Chelsea in the Premier League.
Jeremy Corbyn, decked out in a Blues kit, cheekily runs past his falling rival.
She was then mocked-up day-dreaming about walking through fields of wheat, captioned: “Go to your happy place… happy place.”
Jezza didn’t get away scot-free, either.
One internet whizz-kid stuck Corbyn’s head on a male underwear model’s body with a bulging package.
It was captioned: “Did someone say #hungparliament?”
Others imposed the Labour leader’s strange expression over the body of ET in a scene from the 1982 hit film.
The results of yesterday's vote means that The Conservatives will form a minority government after the Conservatives lost a number of seats.
It’s thought that the Northern Irish party the DUP has agreed to back a minority Tory government on a vote-by-vote basis.
