TRAGIC rap legend Tupac Shakur made peace with East Coast rival Biggie Smalls just before he was ruthlessly gunned down in Las Vegas, it's been revealed.
Shakur's backing crew The Outlawz have told how the superstar ended his long- running beef with Biggie because he saw him more of a "brother" than an enemy.
However, weeks later the Death Row Records artist was slaughtered in a drive-by shooting in the world's gambling capital.
It has long been believed the hit was carried out by gun-toting street gangsters loyal to Biggie as part of the East Coast-West Coast wars which bloodied the 90s rap scene.
However, revelations the two warring rappers had finally made-up seems to have blown that theory out of the water.
In a , The Outlawz - who worked with Tupac on his final album - claims the star was over his feud with Biggie - who was gunned down just months later.
E.D.I. Mean said: “We gotta tell people [that] one of the last things [Tupac Shakur] told us was, ‘Yo, this s*** with Biggie is over.
"I’m done with it. I’m wiping my hands with it. I ain’t even speaking on that no more. ‘Cause at the end of the day, Big is my brother.’ He actually said that.”
Mean later added: “He [Tupac] said, ‘Look, Big [is] my brother; I just wanted to give him a spankin’ real quick. I’m done with it. Mission accomplished. Let’s move on. Let’s move on.’ Absolutely, that’s what he said.”
Young Noble continued: "He didn’t like the way [the beef was portrayed]. Of course ‘Hit ‘Em Up’ and different things started the s***, but how the media made it [coastal], he hated it.”
The East Coast-West Coast hip-hop rivalry was a feud between Bad Boy Records and Death Row Records, and the artists and fans of each record label.
It hit the headlines because of a personal rivalry between Tupac and Biggie.
Although Tupac was born in New York, he lived a majority of his life on the west coast in California.
Biggie was born and raised in New York City on the east coast.
His first album was made without any involvement Tupac - even though he claimed to have "taught Biggie how to rap."
But this did not lead to the feud that was to come.
The story goes that Tupac was entering a recording studio and was shot five times and robbed.
Since Biggie was in the same building at the time, Tupac maintained he must have had a hand in the robbery or known those responsible.
Tupac then released 'Hit 'em Up' a track aimed at Biggie and his manager then known as Puff Daddy.
In it he claims to have slept with Biggie's wife and threatens the star and his crew.
No one has ever been brought to justice for the murders of Biggie or Tupac sparking a wave of conspiracy theories involving the CIA, the FBI and police cover-ups.
