Uber ‘fires more than 20 workers over sexual harassment allegations’
TAXI giant Uber has reportedly fired over 20 workers following an internal investigation into sexual harassment allegations.
The company told staff of the layoffs on Tuesday and related claims by law firm Perkins Coie, a person close with the case told .
The law firm, which is investigating the claims with a broader sexual harassment probe by ex-US Attorney General Eric Holder, looked into 215 harassment complaints dating back to 2012, employees heard.
Uber reportedly revealed it took remedial action in 58 cases, and decided against pursuing further action in 100 more.
Meanwhile, 31 employees are in counselling or training, and seven have received written warnings from the company, an Uber spokesman told Bloomberg.

The issues are said to include harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and a number of other HR matters.
Uber has not named the fired employees, though the person close to the case said some were senior executives.
Investigations continue, the person said.
Meanwhile, the taxi giant also reportedly told staff it is planning on expanding its employee relations unit in a bid to more thoroughly investigate claims.
It also said it would be drastically increasing management training, since most Uber managers are first-time bosses, the person claimed.
According to Bloomberg, which initially reported the claims, lawyer Bobbie Wilson of Perkins Coie presented the assessment to over 12,000 Uber employees.
The investigation was launched following a widely circulated blog post written by a former employee in February this year, which alleged sexual harassment and discrimination.
