London Bridge terror attacker Khuram Butt was a loser in the boxing ring and refused to punch people in the face, says his former sparring partner
LONDON Bridge terrorist Khuram Butt was a “skinny guy” who was “weak” in the boxing ring, according to his former sparring partner.
Abdullah Mohamed - who is nine years Butt's junior at 18 - said the depraved maniac’s punches did not hurt in the ring.
Fellow Muslim and Lloyd's Bank apprentice Abdullah said the extremist even refused to hit him in the face "because of his religion."
He said: ''He was a skinny guy, really quite weak. His punches wouldn't hurt at all.
''He used to refuse to hit me in the face saying it was because of his religion.''
Twisted Butt was a regular at the Ummah Fitness Centre in Ilford, east London, and was popular with fellow gym goers and staff.
He would even volunteer to work behind the counter.
Abdullah joined the gym two months ago as he wanted to sharpen up his boxing skills and the back street gym had a ring.
He said: ''I come here a few times a week and he would always be in here.
''He was definitely popular, he seemed to know everyone.
"He would always offer to help out if he could, whether that was behind the counter or helping lace up people's gloves.
“Honestly, I thought he was a nice guy.''
Abdullah recalled seeing Butt, who is believed to have masterminded Saturday's attack which killed seven people and injured dozens.
He said: ''He was in here and he was talking to an Eastern European guy about religion.
"The guy I think was Romanian and they were talking about Jesus.
''Khuram was saying that Jesus was part of Islam as well, but the Romanian guy said 'no, he is not.'
''That was all they said. I don't think it was an argument.''
Ibrihim Abdulah, 18, has been working behind the counter at the gym for the past two years and recalled often seeing Butt in the gym and using the weights.
He said: ''To me he seemed like an alright guy.
"Whenever I asked if he would help behind the counter if I needed to go for lunch he would be straight over.
''He would come in about twice a week and would generally do the bench press, pull ups and would box.''
He added: ''everyone is really disturbed by what has happened.
''I have been in tears reading the accounts of those who were involved and from the relatives.
''I am a Muslim and I worry that actions like this will bring about anti-Islamic feeling.''
