Theresa May vows to use new powers to block UK access to extremist sites if internet companies fail

THERESA May has vowed to block extremist websites if internet companies do not act to do so themselves.

The PM said she would consider new powers to end UK access to sites promoting radicalisation.

She said the London Bridge terrorists watched hate preach videos online.

Mrs May told the Daily Telegraph that if an agreement could not be reached, she would bring legislation.

She said: “I think it is important we do get together internationally and look at the possibility of regulating cyberspace.

“What has developed as generally a huge benefit for people is being misused.

"It’s being used as a tool in helping to put together attacks.”
