London Bridge terror attack cops ‘find petrol bombs and Molotov cocktails’ in van used to kill pedestrians

POLICE found what appeared to be Molotov cocktails in the back of the van used in the London Bridge terror attack.

Pictures of forensic officers searching the van show what looks like glass bottles with rags poking out of the tops - as officers carefully carry them from the scene, on Saturday.

The van was used to plough through crowds of pedestrians on the bridge before the three attackers jumped out and began stabbing people at random.

Cops examining the vehicle are now understood to have found a number of possible fire bombs inside it.

At least a dozen Lidl wine bottles filled with clear liquid, which had rags stuffed in their tops, were found in the back of the hired van, according to Sky News.

It is now feared the attackers could have been planning to unleash a firestorm on the streets of London.

It is not known whether the bottles were genuine petrol bombs or intended as a hoax, like the fake suicide vests worn by the three terrorists.

Police have so far declined to comment on the reports.

Two of the attackers were today named as Khuram Shazad Butt, 27, and Rachid Redouane, 30 – both of Barking, East London.

Police said investigations were still ongoing to confirm the identity of the third killer.

After ditching the van, the trio rampaged down a flight of concrete steps, randomly stabbing innocent victims on their way.

The jihadis then ran through the empty Borough Market – packed earlier in the day with food lovers but closed at that time of night – to the bars and restaurants located on the other side.

They were eventually shot dead by armed cops outside the Wheatsheaf pub just eight minutes after police were first called.
