Tear-jerking moment policeman bows his head in silent respect as coroner’s vehicle is driven away following London Bridge attack

THIS is the heart-wrenching moment a police officer stationed at London Bridge today paid his respects to the dead as a coroner’s vehicle was driven from the scene.

Some 20 people are thought to have been run down in the attack on the bridge, before the three terrorists exited the van and started stabbing people at random in nearby Borough Market.

The officer was photographed bowing his head in silent tribute as the coroner’s vehicle drove away from the bridge.

He was working at the scene of the attack, where a huge cordon remains in place today as forensic cops collect evidence.

Seven people are dead and another 48 injured after three jihadis mowed down pedestrians on London Bridge, then stabbed people at random in Borough Market.

Aksha Patel explained how a woman, who was part of a couple in his vehicle, acted as a barrier for “a few seconds” which meant that people were able to escape the rear entrance of the Black and Blue restaurant.

He told Sky News: “She knew they were bad people trying to break in. She managed to hold the door for a few seconds but they overpowered her.

“People managed to escape through the rear door so she saved maybe 20 people’s lives.”
