British cops in balaclavas and carrying assault rifles take to the capital’s streets after London Bridge terror attack

ARMED cops have poured into London Bridge after the devastating attack last night in a display of strength against terror.

At least seven people died and 48 have been left injured after three men rampaged through the iconic area of the capital.

A van ploughed into pedestrians walking on the bridge just after 10pm and knife-wielding men stormed bars and pubs.

Police wearing helmets, balaclavas and vests have been drafted in to patrol the targetted area.

Huge numbers of armed cops are now within the cordoned off area – as investigations continue into what happened in a devastating attack which lasted a little over eight minutes.

The Met’s Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley has confirmed that all three of the depraved attackers were shot and killed within eight minutes of the first call to emergency services after brave cops rushed to protect the public.

Confirming the death toll had risen to seven this morning Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick praised the “extraordinary courage” of brave passers-by who stepped in to help those injured in last night’s atrocity.

Met police have confirmed that the attacks in London Bridge and Borough Market were “terror incidents”, with Amber Rudd adding that a connection to the Manchester Attack is unlikely but can not be ruled out.

Another incident in the Vauxhall area was confirmed as an unrelated stabbing.

As London was hit by the devastating attack last night everyday heroes put themselves in the line of danger as they responded to fear with bravery.

From the cab driver who drove towards the terrorists on London Bridge in a bid to stop them, to the man who threw pint glasses at the knife-weilding men who stormed a pub – Londoners rushed to help.
