Motorist caught out by ‘Britain’s most confusing parking sign’ which lists numerous different rules slapped with £40 fine – but when would he have been OK to park?
Dad Matt Sprake stopped in east London to buy food for his daughters but came back to see a penalty notice on his car
A DRIVER was fuming when he was slapped with a £40 parking fine — despite a sign appearing to tell him he could stop there.
Matt Sprake left his car in east London after gleaning from the baffling sign that parking was only allowed between 3pm-4pm on weekdays.
After making the 20-minute pit stop to pick up some bagels with his two daughters, he was left stunned when he returned at 3:30pm to find a penalty notice left on his windscreen.
Photographer Matt said: "At first I thought it I had misread it and felt like an idiot.
"But then my daughter read it and agreed with me. I then felt angry and frustrated, like I had been done over."

Matt, 47, took snaps of the sign with his children Belle, 14, and Emma, 11 and posted them on Facebook.
His pals agreed that he was right to think he could park in the spot. Neal Baldwin wrote: "No rule = no crime".
Matt has appealed the fine with Tower Hamlets council but is yet to receive a response.
"One of my friends described the 3pm to 4pm time as happy hour as a joke because it is so vague", Matt added.
The council has been contacted for comment.
