All four of its crematoria have now refused the monster’s request.

The Scottish Cremation Society, which runs the last one to decide, said fear of public disorder partly led to the decision.

The English authorities must now decide what to do with Brady, who died of lung cancer two weeks ago in Ashworth Hospital near Liverpool.

He and Myra Hindley, who died in 2002 at 60, killed five children aged ten to 17 in and around Manchester in the 1960s.
