JustGiving fund to buy bar tab for brave doctors and nurses treating Manchester bombing victims hits £11,000

MORE than £11,000 has been placed behind a Manchester bar for the brave doctors and nurses who have worked tirelessly to help the many victims of the Manchester bomber.

A JustGiving appeal was set up in the hours following Monday's atrocity by a lifeboat volunteer who said "people working shifts after a bombing shouldn't buy their own drinks".

Edmund Hall set up the appeal with a £100 donation saying: "I listened to the awful news the morning after the bombing and thought I'd like to put a few quid behind the bar at a pub near the Mancester Royal Infirmary.

"I know alcohol isn't the answer to the stress and trauma that the emergency services have experienced today, but it seems a simple and easy way to say thank you."

A tab was opened at the Turing Tap in Manchester at 6pm on Tuesday May 23 and has remained available to the courageous medics since - with more than £11,000 donated.

Edmund has said he plans to extend the toast to other pubs in the city close to hospitals, fire and police stations as a thank you to all the emergency services.

Brave emergency workers rushed to Manchester Arena on Monday evening after evil suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated a device in the foyer following an Ariana Grande concert.

The attack left 22 innocent people dead and injured more than 60 - many of who are still receiving treatment at eight hospitals in the city.

Among the messages left alongside donations are: "Thank you to all of you for being amazing. It's people like you that make the world go round."

Another person added: "To all the emergency workers thank you for everything you do for us every single day, for running towards danger when everyone else is running the other way".
