Generous Sun readers help We Love Manchester Fund top £4MILLION after Warburton’s donates £25,000 for victims’ families

The Manchunian family baking firm made the generous gesture telling the victims' families 'our thoughts are with you all'. 

SUN readers have given generously to victims and families — helping the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund to top £4million last night.

They gave £40,000 on our Together With Manchester Just Giving page, with more donating elsewhere.

Family baking firm Warburton’s added £25,000 The Sun's Together With Manchester appeal - to raise money for families of the victims of the Arena bomb.

The bread company, which is based in Bolton, Greater Manchester, said: “From our family, to all those families affected by the tragedy, our thoughts are with you all.”

Donations will help to alleviate suffering and ensure that victims and their families do not face short-term financial difficulties.

The Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Eddy Newman, said: “The We Love Manchester Emergency Fund will swiftly provide funds to the families of victims of the attack, to help them to cope at this incredibly difficult time.

The fund will make payments to help families in need - including those who are faced with funeral costs and individuals who may have suffered life changing injuries.”

Mike Adamson, Chief Executive of the British Red Cross said: “Our volunteers are there, helping people affected by this attack. Many people around the world have expressed their solidarity.

“We are launching this appeal together with Manchester City Council to support those people who are dealing with the trauma and aftermath of this tragedy.”

In total, 22 people have died and 59 have been injured in the suicide nail bombing at Ariana Grande’s gig in Manchester Arena last night.

The Sun’s appeal will raise money for families of the victims to help them rebuild their lives - and to make a stand against terror.

All money raised will be handed over to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund which will provide funds quickly and immediately to the families of victims of the attack.

The fund is being run by the Lord Mayor of Manchester’s charity, We Love Manchester, and the British Red Cross.

In the immediate aftermath of the bomb last night – the worst terror attack in the UK since 7/7 – the people of Manchester showed incredible kindness and resilience.

Locals opened their homes to confused people who fled the Manchester Arena in panic and were left stranded.

Taxi drivers offered free lifts. Hundreds of people donated blood.

People rushed to assist the injured. It showed the true spirit of Manchester.

This appeal will build on that spirit of unity.
