Have the A-level grade boundaries been released?
Grade boundaries will be published from 8am TODAY - Thursday, August 15, 2019 - and are available on each exam board's website.
This is the same day as A-level results day, when pupils can go to their school or college to receive their marks.
These boundaries show the minimum number of marks that students need for each grade.
The grade boundaries are normally released online the day before candidates receive their GCSE and A-level results, but it has been changed to be published on the same day.
that the decision to delay the publication of the grade boundaries was to prevent students from becoming overly anxious about their results and panicking that they would not achieve the necessary grade.
It comes after the government's pledge in 2017 to toughen up the end of year exams was left in tatters - with the marks needed for top grades lowered to prevent a massive fall in results this summer.
Each exam board has its own grade boundary.
What happens if you miss your A-level grades for university?

For those who are looking to go to university but fall short of the requirements come results day, you will still be able to browse the Ucas website for Clearing spaces at other universities.
It is a great tool to see your university offers, invitations to interview and if you have a place after your A-level results.
If your A-level results are higher than those required for your firm offer, you are entitled to look around for a university with higher entry requirements if you wish.
This is known as the “Adjustment period” and you will be given five days from the date your conditional offer is changed to an unconditional offer to search for a possible alternative.
If you haven’t chosen to defer already, you will need to get in touch with the university as soon as your place with them is confirmed to tell them that you wish to defer the offer.
What happens if you fail an A-level exam?
Failing an exam is not the end of the world, although it can bring disappointment to some students.
If you can't get into a university using clearing, you can get your paper re-marked or you can resit an exam or the entire year.
Resitting exams can be required for those wishing to study competitive courses like medicine.
A-LEVEL NEWS
What should you bring with you on A-level results day?
Students are advised to bring with them their Ucas letter and contact details for any university offers they have, plus everything you'd need to apply through clearing, such as a phone and the Clearing app.
It may also be useful to bring a copy of your personal statement and a copy of your reference.
People can actually apply through clearing if needed from June 30 – but it's most frequently used after results day by people who have just missed out on their grades.
It remains open until September, allowing you to contact unis directly if they still have spaces on a course which takes your fancy.
