Ex-Labour peer Lord Alan Sugar gives backing to Theresa May ahead of next month’s General Election
The Apprentice don also backed the PM's decision to pull out of the live TV debates
LORD ALAN Sugar has given his backing to Theresa May – telling the Sun: “I’d vote for her.”
The Apprentice star and former Labour peer was made an Enterprise Tsar by Gordon Brown.
But he has thrown his weight behind Mrs May’s Conservatives.
And he backs the Prime Minister’s decision to dodge head-to-head TV debates throughout the Election campaign.
The mogul said: “Mrs May is 100 per cent right not to get sucked into a head-to-head slanging match on TV.

“I recall advising Gordon Brown not to do it.
“The only ones who benefit are the TV companies – not the public.”
The former Spurs owner became ‘Baron’ Sugar in 2009 but quit the Labour Party in 2015 because of its “negative” stance on business.
Last year he tore into Jeremy Corbyn – branding the Labour leadership “lunatics”.
He said: “Militants, trots, anit-Semites and terrorist sympathisers all seem to have been welcomed into Labour with open arms.”

Yesterday’s endorsement for Theresa May came as Mr Corbyn received the support of pint-sized Hollywood actor Danny DeVito.
The American actor tweeted his support – telling Brits: “You’ve got the guy … shows us how it’s done.”
The millionaire – best known for starring in blockbuster films Twins and Matilda – urged his four million followers to sign up to take part in the Election.
The veteran first came out for Mr Corbyn last year during the height of the Panama Papers tax avoidance scandal.
He said he liked Mr Corbyn’s approach – the “idea of people telling the truth”.
