Ms Davidson is making a a direct pitch to Labour voters, pledging she could "do a job" for them while their party is engulfed in a "state of civil war” under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership.

She will claim that with the "help" of traditional Labour supporters her party can defeat the SNP in "many places" across Scotland.

It comes after the Tories went up one point to 29 per cent in the latest YouGov survey, while Nicola Sturgeon’s party are on 42 per cent.

Meanwhile Labour - who up until 2015 had 41 of the 59 seats in Scotland, and now just have one - are sitting on just 19 per cent, up one point.

The poll also found support for independence was unchanged from the 2014 referendum, at 45 per cent Yes and 55 per cent No.

And in a slight shift from the EU referendum result in Scotland, in which 62 per cent voted remain and 38 opted to leave, 57 per cent said they now think Brexit is wrong while 37 said they believed it was right.

Ms Davidson will take to the stage with Mrs May a day after the Prime Minister unveiled their General Election prospectus, which included a commitment to deliver a "strong and stable Union, with no divisive Scottish referendum at this time".

She will attack Scottish Labour after it was forced to suspend all nine of its councillors in Aberdeen this week after they went against orders and formed a coalition with the Conservatives in the city.

Ms Davidson will claim it has "has left voters in Aberdeen betrayed and council colleagues suspended because she'd rather prop-up the SNP than work together with the Conservatives”.

And she will add: "This week the Scottish Labour Party - already weakened - has entered a state of civil war."

Appealing to disaffected Labour members she will say: "In great swathes of the country, it is only the Scottish Conservatives who are strong enough to take on the SNP.

“And in many places we can only win if you join with us.";
