'BLOODY RUDE BULLY'

NIGEL Farage today accused Europe's top bureaucrat of being "bloody rude" to Britain and warned that his "bullying" could scupper Brexit talks.

The former Ukip leader grinned widely as he shook hands with Jean-Claude Juncker - only to savage him minutes later in front of the whole European Parliament.

Mr Farage called for EU bosses to be "grown-up and reasonable" in their dealings with Britain.

Previously Eurocrats have demanded that the UK pay a divorce bill of up to £85billion, and refused to strike a deal to guarantee the rights of British citizens abroad.

Mr Farage today slammed the European Commission president for reportedly describing Theresa May as "living in a different galaxy" after a summit this month.

He said in front of his fellow MEPs: "I don't know, Mr Juncker, whether this is how you carry on in Luxembourg.

"I doubt it, because in any part of the civilised world, frankly, that behaviour would be considered to be bloody rude and the act of a bully.

"Well, I'll tell you something, your attempt to bully the Brits through this negotiation is not working - 68 per cent now of the British people want Brexit to happen.

"Either we get some grown-up, reasonable demands from the European Union or the United Kingdom will be forced to walk away before the end of this year. We can't spend two years with this farce."

Mr Farage also mocked Mr Juncker for talking down the importance of the English language across Europe - pointing out that 90 per cent of Eurovision entries were in English.

The ex-Ukip boss is not standing for Parliament in next month's election, claiming he can do more good by continuing as an MEP until Britain leaves the EU in 2019.

His speech today came after Mr Juncker praised the EU for being "united and prepared" while European Council president Donald Tusk said the Brexit talks should "show the European Union at its best".

Despite Mr Farage's tough rhetoric, the chances of a positive deal appear to have improved in the past couple of days.

One of Angela Merkel's close allies promised to reduce the divorce bill, while a court judgment means that the final deal may end up being veto-proof even if some European countries oppose it.
